All visits (free to members) have attendance limits so reserve a place by ticket. Book at meeting or via Pam. There is no charge for these but if you cannot attend please inform Pam so places can be offered to others.
13 Jan AGM Annual General Meeting. Note: for a change this year we are holding this in Longworth Village Hall:Wednesday 7.30 pm.
(A chance to discuss what we do and what direction we should take, followed by free wine and nibbles).
21 Jan Maps from Gough to Google
John Leighfield. An illustrated talk concentrating on our local area showing the development of printed maps in Oxfordshire and including an exhibition of local maps.

17 Feb 17th Century Costumes. Barbara Allison describes her research into what the ordinary woman wore in the early 17th century with a display of examples made for her by a friend.

18 Mar A Village found - in detail. Ken Houlton gives an illustrated talk of the research he carried out to find the locations for T.R. Williams's stereo photos of Hinton Waldrist which is the subject for Brian May’s recently published book.

14 Apr Ridge and Furrow
Everyone recognises ridge and furrow as they walk over a corrugated field but
who made these patterns, when and why? Deborah Hayter considers the question - what’s it all about? The answers may not be as straightforward as many people think. An illustrated presentation.

15 Apr Ducklington Visit hosted by the Ducklington History Group (see also an alternative visit on 9 June).
Meet at Ducklington Church 11am for introduction, followed by a guided village walk including the Fritillary
Meadow. Optional lunch with us at “The Bell” if you choose. Limited places: ticket event.

20 May Entertainment and Self-Improvement in 19th Century Abingdon. Trevor Davies will offer a glimpse of the entertainment available for C19th Abingdonians as well as some leisure activities available together with the self-improvement and self-advancement opportunities.

25 May Visit to Tubney House and Grounds to discover the history of the house and estate and its fascinating role as the centre of "WildCRU", an outpost of the Zoology Department of Oxford University.
Directions and map available (contact Janet (T: 01865-820522).  Limited places. Ticket event.
A Tuesday afternoon visit, meeting in Tubney House car park at 2.45 for 3pm start.
03 Jun Visit to Collins Farm, Frilford hosted by Murray Maclean. An evening walk to see cropping on the farm and the past history of land use – particularly the visible signs of medieval strip system farming, the WWII Anti-tank trench and defences, the farm buildings and Murray’s “finds” collection. Directions: from north on A415 pass Millet’s Farm entrance then Collins Farm is signed on the left after about half a mile.
Limited places. Ticket event.  Thursday evening visit. Meet at 7pm in car park at Collins Farm.
9 Jun Duckington Visit hosted by the Duckington History Group (see also an alternative visit on 15 April).
Meet at Duckington Church 11am for introduction, followed by a guided village walk including the Old Rectory. Optional lunch with us at “The Bell” if you choose. Limited places. Ticket event.
This is a Wednesday morning visit starting at Ducklington Church at 11am.
24 Jun Visit New House & Grounds. Caroline Jackson (MEP since 1984) will give a Powerpoint talk on the house and then lead a tour of the ground floor and garden, after which refreshments will be provided.
Limited places. Ticket event  This is a Thursday evening visit. Meet at New House at 7.30pm
24 Jun Walk to Fyfield Down SSSI (2.5 mile walk from Avebury) Peter Keene has led visits to this remote landscape reserve for many years: archaeology, sarsen rock streams & dry valleys. We leave civilisation (Avebury, food, toilets) for over 4 hours. Bring packed lunch and weather-proof clothing.
Limited places on walk. Ticket event.  Avebury map with main car park (GR: 101697) on ticket.
10.30am start from Red Lion (Avebury), 5 mile walk returns to Red Lion (rendezvous?) 4pm-ish.
ALTERNATIVE: For those (car sharing) who prefer a day in Avebury; sites of interest booklet provided.

16 Sep A History of Policing. Ken Wells, curator of Thames Valley Police Museum. Policing from parish constable to Bow Street Runners & Victorians. Thursday evening: Southmoor Village Hall 7.15 for 7.30.
25 Sep History on our Doorstep. Special Heritage Day for all the family - full of interest & fun – Hall full of stalls - hundreds of photos, local finds & displays. Cream teas & other refreshments. Entry with programme 50p. Children free & especially welcome. Saturday 10am to 5pm, Southmoor Village Hall.
20 Oct Tales from the Bawdy Courts. Mark Priddey (Oxfordshire Record Office). Amazing tales from ecclesiastical & church records. Wednesday evening:
